The Yoga Extension is delighted to welcome Katie Rutherford from Edinburgh. This is a general workshop suitable for those who attend beginners, general or intermediate classes.

Katie has been studying Iyengar Yoga since 1979, qualified as a teacher in 1987, and first visited the RIMYI in 1991 (her most recent visit being in Dec 2019). She holds a level 3 certificate, is an experienced assessor and a fully qualified mentor for IY (UK).

Katie’s teaching is very clear and articulate but also without judgement. She encourages each student to explore their own internal world on whatever level they choose and discover the amazing treasures to be found therein. Her philosophy is that a lifelong study of yoga is not a linear thing, not a series of advancements and achievements but a precious connection to one’s internal self, sometimes tenuous and fleeting, sometimes more profound and intimate, depending on what is going on in your external life.

After all these years of study, new insights are still flowing into her practice and there is nothing she likes better than to share them with students, whether they are teachers or raw beginners.
