Fiona Sarjeant’s first experience of Yoga was as a student in Edinburgh in 1985, attending classes with Elaine Pidgeon and others at the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Center, thereafter with Anke van Bevren in Aberdeen and Ailsa Peck in Inverness. Fiona qualified as an introductory teacher in 1995 and a Junior Intermediate Level 3 teacher in 2003 and was working towards her Senior 1 when the system changed and she became a Level 3 teacher. Fiona visited RIMYI during Guruji’s lifetime in 2005 and was taught by him, Geeta and the other great teachers there. Following this Fiona undertook therapy training with Stephanie Quirk over a four year period. Fiona now teaches weekly classes in Inverness, Beauly, online and annually at the Belladrum Tartanheart Festival. In order to build the Iyengar community in the Highlands, she organises events every year with visiting senior teachers and has recently been accepted as a Mentor for Iyengar Yoga UK.
