National Iyengar Yoga Day 2018

Saturday 13 January 2018

On 13 January Institutes, Affiliated Centres and Teachers in the UK and Ireland organised events around the country in celebration of Iyengar yoga for the third National Iyengar Yoga Day.

Fiona Bochel and Joe Burn held two taster classes in church halls near Aberdeen (next 3 photos):

In Inverness we decided to push the boat out a bit and organised a programme with a talk and interactive demo, complete beginners class, movie (we showed part of Leap of Faith) and a general class for those who attend classes already. In addition there was a small display of books and other resources, DVD booklets etc.

We advertised on Facebook, put up posters locally and our kind friends in Aberdeen did a joint press release in the Press and Journal which covers Aberdeen and the Highlands and Islands. We were very pleased with the result as we got 50 people for the first class, many stayed on for the film and then we had 35 attending the second class.

Feedback from students:

  • Very interesting and informative, nice to look at the books on display
  • Thank you for the day on Saturday. It was great to see how well you all work together to promote this beautiful Yoga practice.
